Electronic Loan Processing
The UNO Office of Student Financial Aid works with several lending institutions and Federal Direct Lending to provide a streamlined application process for Federal Stafford and PLUS loans. If you are eligible to receive Federal Student Loans, they can be electronically certified with one of the lenders listed below. These are lenders that borrowers have used in the past. A Master Promissory Note (MPN) will be required by the lender and can be completed online. Students must complete the MPN before funds can be disbursed. If you are choosing a bank or credit union as your lender, you will need to complete the MPN with the specific bank/credit union you are choosing for your borrowing needs. If you are choosing Federal Direct Lending, the U.S. Department of Education is your lender and you will need to complete your MPN with the Federal Direct Lending Program. If you are a first time borrower or transfer student at UNO, you must complete either a Federal Stafford Loan Entrance Interview or a Federal Direct Entrance Interview. If you choose Federal Direct Lending, please click on the link provided below under Federal Direct Lending to complete your Entrance Interview and MPN. If you choose any other lender, you may complete your Entrance Interview at www.mappingyourfuture.org. The University of New Orleans does not favor one lender over another or endorse any one particular lender. You may surf the web to review available lenders and their benefits. We have not received any financial incentives in exchange for including them on this website. Each time this page is displayed, the lenders will appear in random order in compliance with recent federal legislation regarding lender neutrality. Below is a comprehensive list of lenders that students and parents have used in the past three years, and are actively providing loans to borrowers. The list is reviewed and updated each academic year and as lenders withdraw from the student lending business. If you are interested in using another lender not listed below, please contact your financial aid counselor, who will determine if the lender can participate in electronic loan processing.
